Here is the list of New York Times’ Best Selling Business Books for October, 2019 – Dare to Lead by Brené Brown is still at #1

The New York Times has published its October, 2019 list of best selling business books.  Brené Dare to LeadBrown is still at the top of this month’s list with her influential book Dare To Lead.  I presented my synopsis of this book at the January, 2019 First Friday Book Synopsis in Dallas.  That will tell you how long her book has been a best seller.

Two other long-time best sellers remain on this month’s list.  Extreme Ownership was published in Nov., 2017, and has made many appearances on this monthly list. And Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell was published back when Abraham Lincoln was president (OK, not that long ago – June, 2011).

A couple of notable newcomers to this month’s list are The Ride of a Lifetime by Robert Iger of Disney fame, and What it Takes by Stephen Schwarzman, of Blackstone.  Both books were just released, in September, 2019.

Talking to StrangersOne other note:  Malcolm Gladwell’s new book, Talking to Strangers is not on this  list.  It is a book that is hard to categorize.  It certainly is not a “business” book, but I’m not sure exactly where to put it.  It does provide plenty of food for thought for business people.  It was also just published, and it was #1 on last week’s New York Times nonfiction list; #2 this week behind Demi Moore’s memoir.  So it would surely be at the top of this list if it were categorized as a business book.  – I presented my synopsis of this new Gladwell book at Friday’s First Friday Book Synopsis in Dallas, (Oct. 4, 2019).

Of the ten books on this months list, I have presented synopses of five of them at our monthly Dallas event:  Dare to Lead, Atomic Habits, Outliers, Range, and Extreme Ownership.

{Note:  my synopses are available for purchase from the buy synopses tab at the top of this web page.  Each synopsis comes with the audio recording of my presentation, and the pdf of the multi-page, comprehensive synopsis handout.  Click here for our newest additions}.

One other observation:  Of the ten books on this month’s list, only one has a woman author as the sole author, and one other has a woman co-author.  Other recent months have had a better balance.
